We all have our part to play in protecting the environment and at Drain and Sewer Services, we’re ready to do our bit. No matter what time of the day or night, we ensure that businesses can capture and control pollutant chemicals.

Legal obligations

Oil pollutants harm the local environment and wildlife and if a business fails to adhere to its legal responsibility to prevent pollution, it risks prosecution, a fine by the Environment Agency and loss of reputation; but by then the harm is done.

Where are oil inceptors used?

Oil interceptors are drains and tanks which separate oil from water, trapping the oil and preventing contaminated water from entering waterways and the soil. They are likely to be required where there are hard surfaces and a risk of oil or fuel contaminated run-off seeping into surrounding waterways or the ground, such as commercial and industrial sites like petrol stations, car washes, car parks, and vehicle maintenance areas.

Over time, oil and debris builds up in oil interceptors, preventing them from doing their job. Regular maintenance ensures that an interceptor is fully functional and able to perform its important task, so your business doesn’t get fined. The hazardous waste from an interceptor then needs to be collected, transported and disposed of by licensed professionals with the right equipment to ensure the interceptor is cleaned thoroughly and safely.

Maintaining oil interceptors without disrupting your business

Our team recently worked on an oil interceptor at a theatre in Woking where the access was very difficult, and we had to be there early to complete the work. But whatever your business, we understand that the show must go on, so from regularly maintenance contracts to emergency call-outs, our specialist team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, offering our broad range of services.
